Duck Cotton Canvas

Duck Cotton Canvas is a tight woven plain weave fabric, which means it uses two yarns in the warp & a single yarn for the weft. The tight weave contributes to its durability and weather resistance so it was used for ship sails & tents.

A stiff fabric at first but softens up with wear and washing (like great denim) the smooth surface also makes duck less prone to catching & tearing, most likely a reason for the military use and definitely a tough fabric for our outdoors clothing, which is why we use it along with triple & double stitched seams, 100% Organic Cotton 10oz Duck Canvas and Corozo Nut Buttons with backing buttons to secure them M41 x Chore Coat
Curiously the name comes from the Dutch word for linen, Doek, which somewhere down the line led to Duck 🦆 😁
